Training
Seminar I
This first series focused primarily on the trafficking of women and children for the purpose of sexual exploitation. The trafficking of individuals for the purpose of labor was also discussed. This training seminar looked at sex trafficking from the point of international law enforcement. This topic is critical because of the large number of individuals trafficked between nations and the subsequent difficulty of creating law enforcement networks between countries that can respond effectively and rapidly to react to the activities of organized gangs who run these types of international criminal operations.
The first seminar looked at human sex trafficking from the point of international law enforcement. Detective Roddy Llewellyn and Detective Steve Wilkinson of New Scotland Yard are two of the leading police officers in this area. They provided insight and expertise in the overall issues involving international sex trafficking.
Training Seminar 2
Session 2 of Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) training focused on United States and Georgia law regarding human sex trafficking. We learned more about the resources available locally and nationally. Additionally, discussions
included identifying and working with vulnerable populations and when they are susceptible to traffickers. For the first time, we took an in-depth look at what is being done locally by Street GRACE and non-governmental organizations
dedicated to fighting human sex trafficking.
Guest Speakers were as follows:
