Autism Academy

The Divisions for Special Education Services and Supports provide professional learning in the form of meetings that address the needs of special education teachers and administrators. The Autism Academy has been offered for the past two years during the summer and will continue to provide professional learning and networking opportunities for special education educators who work with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) students. Each year, the Autism Academy builds on the information provided in previous academies, so attendance is recommended for classroom teachers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and behavior specialists who have attended the previous autism academies and/or Georgia Autism Training and Technical Assistance Project (GATTAP) regional team meetings. Additionally, new staff working with ASD students is also invited to attend. Selection of attendees should be based on staff dedicated to building capacity within your local system.

For additional information you may contact Dr. Alice Murphy mmurphy@doe.k12.ga.us or 404-657-9957.
