Statewide K12 Network

The Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) began planning and building the Georgia Statewide K12 Network in 1996. Since E-Rate funding became available, the GADOE has complied with all SLD regulations while applying for and received funding discounts for network services. Currently the network provides Internet Access for all 180 public school districts as well as State Schools and State Charter Schools. The network has become a stable and efficient tool used extensively by Georgia educators and students.

The Statewide K12 Network provides a minimum of 3Mbps of Internet bandwidth per school based on the number of schools in each school district. Each district in the state will continue to be provided with a single connection to the Georgia Statewide K12 Network. Each district in turn remains responsible for providing their own WAN connections from the district Internet host to connect the schools in its school system.
