HIV/AIDS Prevention Program

Since 1988, the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) has maintained a Cooperative Agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention. The goal of this Cooperative Agreement is to reach out to the youth of Georgia, as well as the health educators who deal with this topic. Toward that end, the GaDOE HIV/AIDS Prevention Program has provided RESAs and local school districts support in providing professional development on HIV/AIDS/STDs prevention education for health educators, as well as awareness workshops and presentations related to HIV/AIDS/STDs for health educators, students, and parents.
