Special Education Services and Support
Get information about the various programs in special education offered by the state. This includes programs for gifted children as well as for those with learning impairments.
School Social Work and Visiting Teacher Services
This program is designed to help students work on nonacademic issues that effect their academic performance. Education professionals, parents, and community leaders are coming to the realization that these nonacademic issues not only effect student’s academic work, but can undermine their entire outlook on life and jeopardize their future as adults who contribute positively to society.

Testing and Performance
Georgia Online Assessment System
In this section, you can access tests that consist of the same kinds of questions that appear on the state's assessments in Reading, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies in the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT), the End of Course Tests (EOCT), and the Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT).
Report Card
In this section, you will find information about the annual Report Card for the state and local school districts. These report cards are the State’s yearly report to the people of Georgia summarizing a variety of educational accomplishments during the previous year and outlining the directions and goals for education in the coming year.
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
The Annual Yearly Progress report provides detailed information not only for the state, but also for each school and school district within the state showing whether they met the requirements for the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law.
Student Testing
This section provides information about student testing programs in the state. These include GAA, CRCT, GHSGT, and many others.
Georgia’s School Improvement Program The School Improvement Program provides local education agencies and all schools in Georgia the tools and resources to assist in the school improvement process, as well as to provide intensive support for schools not making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

Facilities Services
The Facilities Services Unit assists local school systems in developing long-range capital improvement plans, acquiring the funds needed to implement their plans, and reviewing their architect's plans to construct adequate and safe school facilities.
School Codes
Read an explanation of school codes and how they are used. It also provides access to the GaDOE Facilities database so you can look up school codes and information about any public school in the state.
Counseling and Support
School Counselors
Get information about School Counselors and the school counseling program in Georgia. Counselors can provide students with a variety of information and support. This covers everything from helping students select classes and identify possible careers to obtaining personal and psychological counseling. If you are a parent, and think your child would benefit from the services of a school counselor, please contact your local school. If you believe that your child is not getting the type of counseling they need, please contact your local school district central office.
Recognition
Teacher Recognition
Get information about the Georgia Teacher of the Year program. This is the chief teacher recognition program in the state. It spotlights the teaching profession and recognizes outstanding public school teachers at the local and state levels.
Milken Educator Awards
The Milken Educator Awards are granted each year by the Milken Family Foundation. These awards were founded in the 1980s by education pioneer Lowell Milken as a way to honor outstanding educators. These awards, which exist at the state and national levels, provides both public recognition and financial rewards to chosen educators. These awards are granted both on the state and national levels.
Schools of Excellence
The Georgia Schools of Excellence program, which can be accessed through this link, is the way the state recognizes outstanding excellence in education by schools in the state. These schools are chosen each year by the State Board of Education.
Honors and Awards Unit
This section provides information about various honors and awards programs offered by the state. These include the Governor’s Honors Program (Governor's Honors Program), the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program, the Georgia Scholar Program, and the United States Senate Youth Program.
