The Guidance Representative’s Role

With the special knowledge and perspective possessed by guidance staff, it is important that they become proactive members of the cybersafety team.

Guidance staff have extra responsibilities because of the nature of the work they do with vulnerable or at-risk students. Staff in this position need to be aware of the significant role that technology often plays in the lives of young people. These staff members will also be very aware of students who have been placing themselves at risk with technology. Examples of this include harassment and bullying via mobile phones and/or social networking websites.
